Playing with actions in PHOTOSHOP!

One of the major reasons I wanted photoshop, was so I could use ACTIONS!

with one press of a button, you get differently edited, AWESOME photos.

I'm soooooo excited!
Here's one photo done in different actions.

this first one is just the regular one that I edited.

Which is your favorite?? I can't choose!

one photo.

sometimes i think it's lots of fun to play around with one photo. you can get so many different looks with just one!

so photographers- i told you i would try to post tips every now and then.

here is a tip:
if you are totally bored with a certain photo, and it's just not doing it for you,
play with it!

process it differently..

crop it differently!
change the dimensions!
add textures!

i'm sure there are at least 50 different things i could do with this single photo!

and you would probably do 50 totally different things with this photo!

there are no rules!

and that's what i love most.

p.s. photo was taken in San Diego at La Jolla Beach.

Black & White Christmas

I have developed a very strong love for black & white photography. The Pioneer Woman could have had something to do with that. She is just awesome. But I swear I loved black & white before then..

My vocabulary isn't large enough to let me describe how I feel about it. I'll try. I think black & white photos are .. powerful. magical. strong & clean. deep & thoughtful. simple & classic. and beautiful. just beautiful.
maybe I'm just a geek. Well, I know I'm one.

Did you have a Merry Christmas? I sure hope so. I've been so busy having fun with my cute little family that I haven't blogged much lately. That's good though, right?

Here's our Christmas day. In black & white.

Merry (Late) Christmas. Hope you all had a lovely one.

For Mom.

This is my studly baby brother. He is almost a teenager now, but he will forever remain my baby bev! He needed some '7th grade pictures' done. Since I wasn't blessed with one single sister, my brothers are now paying for it. But to my surprise, no teeth pulling or arm twisting occured this day. I think he almost actually maybe kind of enjoyed this mini photo shoot!
Here are a few for my Mom. He's such a studly fellow, and I must admit I am quite thrilled about how these pictures turned out. Don't worry, he does smile. But I love the serious ones.

I am so glad it was just me and him that day. He does only does certain faces and smirks for me.

Fall Bokeh Assignment

The Pioneer Woman gave all her readers a fun little assignment. She told us to go out and take a picture of something fall-y. Something fall-y with tons of bokeh. Yes, bokeh is a word , although I have no idea how to say it. Bokeh is that lovely, lovely blurry background.

Well, since I live in the desert, this task was not an easy one. Luckily, beautiful Oak Grove is sort of nearby, and the leaves there are BARELY starting to change.

OH!
just had to add this random fellow.
It's a little freaky, I know. But check out the crazy color of his eyes. No, I didn't change them to be emerald green.
His eyes make their own decisions from day to day.

Just havin' a little fun

Look how evil this kid looks! These are the looks he shoots me when he's absolutely had enough of my obnoxious camera addiction. If looks could kill....
I decided to play a little with this photo....
CHECK IT OUT!

SO so so fun!

eye color

I've always most enjoyed photographing blue-eyed people. They have the coolest eyes in photos. (No offense, brown eyes. Mine aren't blue either!) Up until reading this lovely post from the pioneer woman (I owe a lot to her), I was strictly blue-eyed junkie. I even almost considered turning away brown eyed people! Jk, that would be awful. But I was obsessed! Well, that AWESOME pioneer woman taught me a little somethin. Even with the darkest of brown eyes, (and all strange colors in between. Scroll down to see my son's) you can achieve that magical, sparkly, glossy eyed look! ALL IN CAMERA! (No editing!) It's just a simple matter of light. Isn't that basically what photography is ALWAYS about?!
I've never been too excited about Jaxon's eye color till now......
CHECK IT OUT!

Ok, yes I DID edit a little. Cause I love drama. I also love black/white!

Yay for all eyes! Bring it on!

Blue-eyed Bev

You thought I had quit doing photography , huh? Nope, I'm back. I finally upgraded my storage , so now I can BLOG AGAIN! I have some fun stuff to show you, but first:

I told my cute little brother Trevor (aka Bev) that I would buy him a chocolate frosty shake if he let me take some pictures of him and his pretty blues. Look at the cute guy. I love blue eyes.

A Day at the Lake

I've made a personal goal to try and become more creative. I'm getting tired of my same old ways.

For such a challenge as this, what better place than at the lake with friends?
