Man, I suck at blogging these days!

Lets face it, facebook is where its at now. Am i right?

I took these bridals/groomals of my brother & sis-in-law last month.

and now they are married!

I absolutely LOVED going with this vintage theme. It was so fun.

You can't tell from the pics but EVERY single plan we had made for that day ended up falling through. we were just about to call it quits when we stumbled upon this lovely vintage truck & beautiful field of dead yellow weeds.

I was soooo nervous when this family e-mailed me and said they had NINE kids!

I haven't done very many large families, so I was scared to death!

This family was so cute! The kids were so sweet and cooperative.

They did what i asked them to do!

We had so much fun.

I am also very grateful that my wonderful assistant , Staci was there to help me.

I couldn't have done this without her. thanks, staci! :)

Mason is here!

He has colic, so really i was very very lucky to get the shots i did.

i love this first photo here, it melts me. i think its because i have a son this same age, who acts the EXACT same way. little boys really are very sweet.

I LOVE these beautiful trees blossoming everywhere in St. George right now. They will be gone soon, and i really want to take advantage of them!

ok, so i took having fast internet for granted for the past couple years!

we just downgraded to a slower speed and it takes FOREVER to upload pics on blogger!

that's pretty annoying...so either i wait two hours to post all the images i want...or i post less :(

i always post tons from the session..i guess i don't need to do that!

anyway..

i love newborns.

this baby and her big sister are soooo dang cute! (even though big sis didn't wanna cooperate)

one day, when i have a girl, i hope she has curly hair like this!

i also loved the fun props and ideas that their mama had.

for some reason, my photos aren't showing up as colorful on here as they are in real life!

i thought i figured out this problem before, but apparently not!

so, just imagining them being a bit more colorful :)

OH goodness this was a fun shoot! these little stinkies didn't love me. K is my good friend and these are her cute babies. i love the matching shirts, so cute!

also- i've been experimenting here and there with flash. i'm not in love with it, but sometimes i like what it can do for me. i still love the natural light look of course, i think i always will because that's how i learned. can you tell which ones i used flash and which ones i didn't? you fellow photog's will be able to tell.

not happy kids. but cute & hilarious. love it.

B just turned 1, ok well waaaay back in October. we attempted( and you'll see why i say "attempted",) some 1 year old shots, buuut as you can see, Mr B wasn't having it! I never knew being 1 was so hard!

Maybe i'm crazy, but i always love the crying shots!

This is the 4th session I've done for her! She's always so sweet to compliment my photography.

What i love is that she always has these fun, awesome ideas and knows EXACTLY what she wants!

this time, she was going for a more vintage look, so she requested a vintage edit. It was hard for me to edit like this, because I am not used to it! But I like how they turned out.

Snow is a foreign substance to us here in the desert.

So, I had to basically pick my jaw up off of the ground when we drove up Cedar Mountain today.

Gorgeous. Peaceful. Amazing.

Since I am inspired almost daily by the Pioneer Woman, and because I am in a good mood,

I am going to attempt to explain to you how THIS is done:

First:

Find some snow.

Find a toddler.

Preferably a hyper one who will be willing to throw snow at your lens.

I have one.

Second:

Have him throw snow at your lens.

But before you have him do that,

make sure you are doing the following:

-Shoot into backlight. Pretty, afternoon backlight.

-Don't use your flash. I don't know much about flash, but what i do know (i think), is that flash freezes action, and we don't want that.

-Change your settings. Shoot in manual mode. if you're like me, you shoot with your aperture wide open to create the greatest depth of field at all times. Now is not the time for that. Up your aperture to say f11, or f13.

-Your ISO should be higher than 100, but not too high. Experiment. You need it to be high enough that your subject is well lit, but not blown out. I think for this particular shot, my ISO was 400?

Lastly:

If your toddler is still there, and hasn't moved on to the next subject of interest, point, focus and shoot away.

Don't take one shot, take lots. Right after another. Unless you're shooting film, then shoot wisely.

Have your toddler do weird , crazy things. This will most likely come natural to them. Keep shooting.

Tell them to throw snow at your lens and keep shooting. If your lens gets ruined, don't blame me though.

Maybe you didn't care how to get these shots.

Or maybe you already knew a way.

Or maybe this didn't make a whole lot of sense.

But I hope you enjoyed looking at these photos ! :)

i've been taking an online photoshop 101 class. One of our assignments this week was to choose one of our photos and give it a pleasing looking crop.

I was SO happy because my teacher said I did a perfect job with it. I've never taken any classes so I've never had any feedback from a teacher really. It was so awesome!

I just had to share that.

Can I tell you how COMPLETELY AWESOME it was to be a 2nd shooter at a wedding??

It was fabulous!

I didn't have to stress as hard about getting important shots, so I could focus on more of the details! (And I LOVE wedding details!)

Thank you again, Laurie Terry , for asking me to do this! It was a blast, and I am so grateful I got this opportunity.

I just love her fatness!!!! ahh!

I sure had a fun time trying some "vintage" style stuff on her. I'm personally not a fan of the huge flowered headbands or fluffy tutus on little girls, although I know a lot of people are. I have SO MANY cute lil girly hats & flowers to pin on headbands but NO girls to try them out on! So, I came to Richfield, not knowing I'd be photographing this cutie, and left ALL my cute props home! argh!

BUT, we still made it work!

This last weekend I was asked by the amazing Laurie Terry, of Laurie Terry Photography to be a second shooter at a wedding in Nevada! I was so excited and SO nervous! It turned out to be TONS of fun! I'm so glad (and flattered!) that she asked me.
